EZ Tofu Press

EZ Tofu Press

Have you ever used a tofu press? Up until recently, I had no idea that a device like this existed and was perfectly content draining and preparing tofu without one. Even though my kitchen cupboards are full, I made room for this handy device that doesn’t take up much space.

The EZ Tofu Press is simple to use and really makes a noticeable difference in the taste and texture. Tofu is packed in water to help keep it fresh. When you remove the water, the tofu can then absorb the flavor of other foods, marinades or spices.

I had been just pouring off the water from the package and then letting the tofu sit on towels to drain out more of the water. If you try to squeeze or push out the excess water, you can end up with a pile of mushy tofu. It takes gentler handling to get the water out. And that is where the tofu press comes in.

It’s very simple to use. I just put the brick of tofu between the two plates and turn the knobs to apply pressure to the tofu. Then I can gradually tighten up the screws to release more of the water. The whole process just takes 5-15 minutes and only a few adjustments. Since it’s easy, I can keep busy doing other prep work, while the EZ Tofu Press does it’s job.

Clean up is a breeze and the press is compact for convenient storage.

The EZ Tofu Press is a handy invention that is definitely easy and improves the taste and texture of my tofu dishes!

This looks so much easier and less messy than my current method (hands and dish towel)!

This is the first I have heard of a Tofu press but lately I have been trying out new recipes with Tofu and have always hand squeezed it. This would make cooking with Tofu much easier! Very cool!

I could have used this today when I made tofu stir fry! I tried to get the water out by pressing it with a paper towel, but did not work so well!
