This book is a fantastic reference guide. I expected it to be good based on the subject matter and the fact that it was put together by Reader’s Digest. It exceeded my expectations and is even better than I thought it would be. The book will be referred to over and over again.

The foods that nature provides for us are quite miraculous. Unfortunately, we humans have mucked it up. The processed foods that we have easy access to are not what nature intended and can harm our bodies. It’s gotten to the point that it can be very difficult to choose wisely the way many of our ancestors did.

This handy guide will help you make wise choices to suit your particular health concerns.

It’s divided into 2 sections. The first part is an alphabetical guide to over 170 foods. It details how they can harm and how they can heal. Not every “healthy” food is right for every person, so it’s important to do a little homework. For example, I love garlic and it’s good for high blood pressure and heart disease. I don’t have either of those conditions, but it is important for me to eat heart healthy foods to avoid trouble. Some people who have bleeding or skin issues could be harmed by garlic. We need to be smart with our choices to keep our bodies functioning well.

The second section is an alphabetical listing of over 100 health conditions. You can look up a condition that you have or that you know you need to avoid and find specific information on foods that can heal and foods that harm.

The book is well written and full of practical information that will be easy to incorporate into my family’s meal planning.
