Ballreich’s began in Ohio in 1920 … and now in 2010, it is still a family run business in Ohio! These people really know how to make good potato chips!
They have wavy ‘marcelled’ chips, flat chips and baked crisps. Each of the varieties has an excellent potato flavor. They’ve also got other tasty snacks – pretzels, popcorn, cheese puffs, pork rinds and more.
The flavor of the wavy potato chips is wonderful, but for me, it’s the texture that really makes them stand out. I tried to explain the texture to my son and he looked at me like I was speaking in a foreign language. But then he tried them and agreed with my odd description. They are firm and crispy and somehow soft at the same time. They feel very potato-like in my mouth after I crunch. Maybe that makes sense to others who have tried them ;)
We enjoyed each of the flavors that we tried. The favorites here were the Salt & Vinegar and the Smoky Sweet Mesquite. My kids enjoyed the pretzels and popcorn.
You can find Ballreich’s snacks in retail stores and online. They’ve got some fun party packs put together that would be great for gifts or special events.
